Shark Theme Birthday Party!!

I had so much fun planning my son’s 3rd Birthday Party this year. My husband says every year I should of went into party planning because I do such a good job in creating such a memorable event for our son each year. I love party planning- it is so much fun that I start 6 months in advance. Yes, you heard that right- 6 months!! It’s a lot of work, so I always want to make sure I give myself enough time to buy everything and create it.

Lately, my son has a little obsession with sharks, so when it came time to start planning his party I asked him what theme he wanted and of course he said sharks! So I began my search on the internet for some inspiration.

All of these photos were taken by a Edeline Photography because I wanted to make sure I captured all the memories while enjoying myself and not having to worry about taking pictures. She did an amazing job and it was worth every penny!

I bought all the table cloths, plates, forks and napkins from Dollarama. I cut out “shark bites” on every plate due to the fact that I made sharks out of grey wrapping paper swimming on the tables. I also printed out little shark tags and attached them with curling ribbon to all napkins and forks.

For the food table, I made large shark cut outs using cardboard and grey wrapping paper. They were a lot of fun to make and super easy. To go along with the theme, I cut pieces of cheese to look like “Shark Teeth” and I had water bottle and juice box labels done in the shark theme as well from Pep Custom Designs

Next we had a dessert table. I bought 2 shark boogie boards from Michaels to use as a back drop. I made a watermelon shark which I found a tutorial on YouTube on how to create it. I bought all the candy from Bulk Barn and put them all in clear plastic jars and added name tags which I purchased from Pep Custom Designs. The cake was made by yours truly. 🙂
I wanted to make sure I created loot bags that were somewhat theme orientated, so I went with an outdoor beach them. I purchased pails (Blue for the boys and Pink for the girls), shovels and sharks sand molds (for the boys) and fish sand molds (for the girls) from Walmart and I also added a bottle of bubbles to each pail that I purchased from Dollarama. For each bottle of bubbles, I added bubbles labels from Pep Custom Designs. Then I printed off little shark cut outs from the internet and added each child’s name to the pail.

I hired Balloon Twistaroo to come in and create “underwater creatures” for the shark theme party. He was amazing! He made one big shark for all the kids to look at and get pictures taken with, and he  created shark hats for all the them to wear. He also made fishing rods with fish on the end, octopuses, turtles, sting rays, crabs and so much more.
Most importantly, my son had a blast, so to me all that hard work was all worth it. To see him having so much fun made me so happy. I can’t wait to start planning his next Birthday Party! 🙂

This spa is amazing! They are so professional and friendly too! They offer Skin Treatments,  Manicures, Pedicures, Massages, Hair Removal, Makeup Applications and more.

If you ever need to get your eyebrows waxed- Rosanna is awesome! I have been going to her for years. She books up pretty fast so I would definitely pre-book your appointment. I have also gotten  skin treatments there as well because I am in love with the Dermalogica line. My skin is very sensitive and I find all the Dermalogica products work great on my skin. They also have a Dermalogica Points Program. For every $15 you spend on Dermalogica products they give you a stamp on a points card and after 20 stamps you get $15 off any Dermalogica product. The line is a bit pricey but totally worth it! I have noticed such a difference in my skin from using the products.

Back to School must haves for kids!

This September my son will be heading to pre school again a couple of days a week, so I am on the hunt for some unique items for his first day of school. Having 2 kids now I find myself mostly shopping on line instead of heading to the mall. It’s so much easier!!! Chapters Indigo has some really cute things for back to school and they also have free shipping over $25! Here are some of my top picks:

Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse

Last week my husband and I had a date night and decided to check out Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse. They actually have 3 locations in Ontario- 2 in Toronto and 1 in Niagara Falls. We went to the one on Adelaide Street West in Toronto.

It was such a fun night. I have never been to a Brazilan Steakhouse before so I was pretty excited. Make sure you go on a night you are really hungry because it’s an all you can eat restaurant.

Once you are seated you can order your drinks and then head over to the harvest table where you can enjoy freshly baked breads, pastas, salads, seafood and other hot dishes. When you are back at your seat then the action starts to happen.  Gauchos or carvers will come around one by one and serve you a section of rodizio grilled meats at your table. They have over 20 cuts of meats to choose from. Most of the meats come medium rare but if you prefer another way you can just let them know and they will cook it to your liking. When they cut your meat, they provide you with these little tongs to assist your caver to put it on your plate.

Pricing isn’t that bad considering it’s an all you can eat restaurant. Sunday to Thursday it’s $37 a person and Friday and Saturday it’s $45. I would recommend going on the Friday or Saturday because it does have it’s advantages. On top of the 20 meats they add shrimp, salmon and suckling pig to the menu. They also have Samba and Aerialist silk performers that perform at 7:15, 9:15 and 10:15pm and a DJ from 7pm to close.

I would make a reservation for this restaurant, you can call or reserve your time online. They only have a 2 hour dining time from the time of your reservation so I wouldn’t show up late. This restaurant isn’t kid friendly so I would make it a date night like we did for sure.

Girls Night Out at Kelsey’s & Milestones

Every month I like to pick one night to have a nice quiet night out with my girlfriends. I got an email a while back from Kelsey’s offering a girls night out deal for only $20. So, the other night I went out with one of my friends to try it out!

The deal is 4 for $20. Here is what you get:

2 spiked snow kones

2 appetizers- you can choose from Mozzarella Bread, Four Cheese Spinach Dip, Loaded Potato Skins, Large Caesar salad, or Chips and Queso.

We went around 7:30pm and the restaurant was pretty busy. I saw about 4-5 tables of ladies which were there for the girls night out deal as well. We thought for sure the appetizers would be mini for the price but they weren’t. They were regular size. For what you get for $10, I think it was so worth it. I will definitely be back.

Here is a picture I took so you get an idea on the size of the drinks and appetizers. We each got the same app which was the four cheese spinach dip and I got the snow kone (virgin) because I am nursing and my friend got a spiked one.

Milestones offers a girls night out deal as well. I haven’t been as of yet but I will be checking it out next month. The deal is 4/4/40. Here is what you get:

4 Bellinis which is a frozen blend of white rum, peach liqueur, sparkling white wine, topped with boone’s sangria. They are really good! I have had them before.

If you aren’t into Bellinis you can get a pitcher of domestic beer instead.

4 Appetizers- you can choose from California Spring Salad, Roasted Garlic Caesar Salad, Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Yam Frites, Baked Goat Cheese & Roasted Garlic, Mango Chili Shrimp, Spicy Sesame Green  Beans,

So if you’re looking to get out one night I would check out these places because you really can’t go wrong with the pricing!
