Pantry Makeover!

Like many of us when we start a new year, we get the itch to de-clutter, and re-organize our house. So a few weeks ago, I did just that. I tackled the kitchen by re-organizing each cupboard. It not only feels so good to have it all organized, but I can’t believe how much better the kitchen functions now.

I don’t know about your kitchen, but our pantry is the most used cupboard in our kitchen. It’s where we keep all the kids snacks, baking products, and non-perishable foods. So with this cupboard, and all the others, I pulled everything out, washed them down, and only put back what we USE! I also went to Kitchen Stuff Plus, and bought clear plastic containers, and bins to organize everything!

Here is the before:

Here is the after!

It’s amazing what a difference containers, and bins can make for organization!! Crazy! Let me walk you through how I organized everything, and which containers I used.

For all of my pasta, flour and sugar, I used the KSP Easy Lock 3.6L Acrylic Canisters with Locking Lids which fit perfectly with the height of my shelves in the pantry. Then for my brown sugar, icing sugar, and marshmallows, I went with the OXO Good Grips Pop Rectangular 1.4 L Containers. These containers are amazing! I love them so much! They are so easy to open, and they also lock in the freshness very well with their airtight seals. On the next shelf, I added extra drinks. We used to keep them all in the basement, but now since adding them in the pantry we have found it at a lot easier to refill the fridge since the extras are so close by.

For the second half of the pantry, I went with a variety of containers, and bins.

For large food items, I got the same OXO containers that I used for my baking items above. For the smaller snack items like Goldfish and Teddy Grams, I got the OXO Good Grips Pop Cereal 1.1L Storage Dispensers. These containers have a tapered front for easy pouring which makes it very easy for the kids to pour a snack into a bowl.

For the rest of the kids snacks, I got 2 of the InterDesign Linus Fridge Binz Split Bins. Having the split down the center helps keeps the snacks clearly organized, and stops things from moving around. These bins are great quality- very heavy duty plastic. I also love that they have a handle on the front of them, so it makes it easy for the kids to go in the pantry and grab a snack from one of the bins.

Finally for things like the boxed food, peanut butter, coffee, hot chocolate etc. I used a bunch of the large InterDesign Linus Fridge Binz Deep Bins. These also have handles as well which makes it very easy to pull out of the pantry and grab what you need. I also love how deep they are too!

I am so happy with how our pantry turned out!  Now onto the next kitchen cupboard, lol

I hope this post inspires you to organize your own pantry!

How to Achieve Your New Years Resolutions!

Happy New Year! I can’t believe the holidays have come and gone, and we are at the start of a new year. Crazy how 2018 just flew by so fast!

Are you one to make New Years Resolutions? I know some people find them pointless, and stupid, but I always like to make new goals for myself each year. I choose 2 personal ones, and 2 professional ones that I want to accomplish each year.

If you’re one to make New Years Resolutions, but don’t stick to them throughout the year, here are some tips on how to achieve your goals:

  1. Have only 3-4 Goals. Don’t overwhelm yourself with an excessive amount of goals, because you might not be able to complete them all by the end of the year. Pick 3-4 goals that are really important for you to achieve, and work on them throughout the year.
  2. Be Realistic. You want your goals to be attainable. Don’t write something like you want to travel around the world, because you probably won’t be able to do that. If one of your goals is to Travel more, maybe attempt to travel to at least 2 new places this year. Start off small.
  3. Break down your goals. It’s OK to have big goals, but I find it easier to achieve those goals by breaking them down into smaller weekly or monthly goals. For example: Say you want to loose 25 pounds this year. Break down that goal by saying you want to try and loose 2 pounds each month.
  4. Be Organized. This is key. I can always think clearer, and get more done if I am super organized. So, try and keep your goals organized by maybe writing them down in a book so they are all in one place. This way you can make notes throughout the year. I keep my goals in the same book each year, so I can look back at the resolutions I made from past years as well.

Hope my tips help you achieve your New Years Resolution goals. Cheers to 2019! I have a lot, and exciting things coming to you for 2019 so stay tuned!

Sorry I lied, my previous post wasn’t my last for 2018. I forgot I still had this look to post for New Years. lol

Hope you had a great Christmas. We are all exhausted over here. We just finished our last Family Christmas dinner yesterday. We had 4 family dinners, in 4 consecutive days. We have hardly been home this past week, and my house looks like a disaster. We also have no food in the fridge. I have a lot to do tomorrow to get the house back in order.

I am obsessed with these sequin pants. I have been eyeing them for a few months now, and I finally grabbed them for New Years Eve. We are just going out for an early dinner with friends that night, but they will be perfect because we are going to a pretty fancy restaurant, and they look really dressy. I paired the pants with a black ribbed turtleneck, and these sexy black pumps that have a gold heel on them. As soon as I saw them, I knew I had to have them!

Only 2 days left until Christmas. Hard to believe it’s here already. Time just flew by. Thankfully, I am completely ready. I have finished shopping, and all the gifts are wrapped, and ready to go. Starting tonight, we have 4 days in a row with family dinners, so things are going to get really busy.

I wore this look last night for our annual Christmas dinner with some of my girlfriends. This black turtleneck has an all-over ribbed detailing, and is nice and fitted. My skirt is faux suede in a beautiful caramel colour, and has an elasticated waistband which makes it very comfortable to wear. I tucked my top into the skirt, but a bodysuit would be super cute too! I added over the knee boots with some accessories to complete the look!

This will be my last post for 2018. Thanks so much to all of you for supporting me, and following along. I really appreciate each, and every one of you. I have already started planning my content for 2019, and I have some fun things coming your way next year. Hope you all have a great Holiday, and I’ll see you in the new year!

Last Minute Gifts for Her

If you’re still on the hunt for some last minute gifts, whether you’re looking for a friend, family member, or just need some ideas to give your husband, check out some of my favourites I put together for you below!

This Fuji Film Instax SQ6 is such a great camera. It has automatic exposure control to make sure your pictures are nice and bright. It even has a selfie mode, and selfie mirror, so you can capture the perfect selfie! This camera comes in 5 colours, is light weight, and a perfect size to take anywhere.

These grey, cable knit over the knee socks are so cute, and cozy! These are the UGG ones I got at Nordstrom, and are under $65! They also come in a light pink as well, and have cute pompom ties at the top of the knee.

This L’occitane Verbena Hand Wash & Hand Lotion set is amazing. Not only does it cleanse and hydrate your hands, but it leaves them super soft. I also find the scent of verbena so refreshing!

I love Korres products, and this one is one of my favourites. This Wild Rose Brightening Serum makes your skin feel softer, brighter, younger, and healthier. I use it morning, and evening after I cleanse my face, and noticed a big difference after only a couple of months.

How pretty are these Kate Spade Bow Stud Earrings? They are under $40, and come in White, Yellow, and Rose gold. They are so sparkly, and dainty, and would make the perfect gift for any girly girl.

I love Stila Glitter shadows, and if you have a makeup lover on your list, this Holiday Set would be perfect! It comes with 2 Glitter & Glow Highlighters, and 4 Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows. My all time favourite that I use when I am going out somewhere special is Kitten Karma, which is included in this kit! It’s so pretty!!

Candles make a great gift. I love lighting candles in the house, especially my Jo Malone ones. There are a bunch of different scents you can buy, and they come in a very pretty gift box as well. My favourites are the Lime Basil & Mandarin, English Pear & Freesia & Peony & Blush Suede.

I hope some of these ideas helped you knock some people off your list. Happy Shopping!
